She Past Away - Ağıt - An unnearving, moving and revealing music video and A Goth Renaissance:

CreepyTunesCo

This song is a modern masterpiece, which perfectly combines it's eighties Gothic influences, such as The Mission, Sisters of Mercy and Depeche Mode to appeal to a modern goth audience. The lead singer's voice is very similar to that of dark deep voiced Andrew Eldritch of the Sisters of Mercy and this song is much darker and has more of a classic Gothic sound than some of their other releases which give off a more dark wave feel.

The music video and song are dedicated to the late Şeyda Yamanlar Aydemir (a.k.a Heidi Rotterfurman) and features a person who is presenting as female in a silicone mask who is brutally chased by a group of children who are un-understanding of her struggle and show no compassion for her situation, they are totally unaware of the inner battle she is clearly facing towards her identity. The end of the video features her walking with an older women who takes her arm and leads her down the streets talking calmly with her and engaging in conversation. Unafraid and not at all phased by what she see's. This is showing the Turkish duo She Past Away's message of the video (filmed in Istanbul) to show the caring and understanding qualities of the people of the Tarlabaşı Neighbourhood and it also conveys Seyda Yamanlar Aydemir's message as an artist who sadly lost her battle with lung cancer 2 years ago. The video is liked below:

She Past Away alongside others such as the duo Lebanon Hanover (with a similar sound) show a lot of promise for the contemporary goth community and are worth a listen if you are a fan of the goth music scene of the 80's or today.
