The Birthday Massacre 'Fascination' Album Review and My Thoughts

CreepyTunesCo

The Birthday Massacre had a difficult end to the year 2021 with the tragic death of their manager and mentor Terry McManus but today The Birthday Massacre kicked off 2022 with the release of an album he would have certainly been proud of... 'Fascination'

Some favourites of mine from the album were 'Precious Hearts' and 'Like Fear Like Love' which are both heavier, trad goth rock tracks. 'Like Fear Like Love' is energetic, rocky and catchy, with a really anthemic chorus and 'Precious Hearts' is also trad goth sounding with a synthy chorus and some really nice atmospheric and creepy mystical elements.

Another song which I think captures The Birthday Massacre's creepy goth vibes is 'Stars and Satellites' which has a spooky goth metal feel, similar to Type O Negative.

Some of the most recognisably Birthday Massacre tracks include 'Cold Light' which is a less heavy, more moody goth track with 80s style synth influences. Similar to bands like Protomen.

The recognisable Birthday Massacre style ballads can also be found on this album such as 'One More Time' and 'Once Again' which in my opinion has an 80's pop feel with focus given to Chibi's emotional and passionate voice.

'Dreams Of You' is a really interesting track which is synthy, upbeat and mystical and what can only be described as a 'bubblegum rock' and a great entry level track if you're a fan of the softer stuff.

The first track 'Fascination' doesn't really do the rest of the album justice in my opinion and neither does the last song 'The End of All Stories' but judge for yourself and let me know what you think!
