This may seem like an odd choice for a blog which focuses mainly on metal core, goth and alternative music but when I saw this come up in my YouTube feed I couldn't ignore it.
I think a lot of people shy away from Black Veil Brides, pretty much counting them out as a "legitimate" band, known for making emo glam rock music for much of my generations baby bat tweenhood. However, I was really impressed with their relatively recent single "Wake Up" which was anthemic, catchy and honestly although not as heavy as most of the music I cover on this blog a really good glam metal tune.
Scarlet Cross is a really exciting single for the band as for me it shows a real turning point in their music to a slightly more adult sounding, relatively heavy metal track. Although not lyrically Shakespeare it's anthemic chorus is extremely catchy and I think the music video which plays with the idea of tainted faith and the establishment of the church is definitely clever and visually compelling.
Since they've ditched the make up and adopted a slightly less heavy but much more defined anthemic, structured way of producing music I think it's really helped to (for me anyway) establish there legitimacy as a band and hopefully they will now appeal to a much wider audience than they have in the past.
So before you exit the tab in disgust at the thought of actually listening to this song for anything other than a laugh take into account what I've mentioned above:
